Echeveria setosa, aptly named the Plush Plant or Mexican Firecracker, is covered in dense white bristles that give it a soft, fuzzy appearance and textural appeal. Native to Mexico, this species forms attractive rosettes of spoon-shaped leaves thickly covered in fine white hairs that protect against UV radiation and reduce water loss. In spring and summer, tall stalks emerge bearing bright red and yellow bicolor tubular flowers that attract hummingbirds. The hairy coating requires careful watering to avoid trapping moisture, which can lead to rot. This species readily produces offsets, forming attractive clusters.
